Created by Linda Peters
This portion of the exhibit is the main attraction, which we call the HEART of WASTETOPIA. It features nine ‘Port Holes’ that follow a new iteration of the Bagua of the property and artist Linda Peters’ dwelling for over 40 years. Each area consists of carefully gathered and curated items from interesting sources along the artist’s various roadside journeys, scavenger hunts, and neighborhood curbside discards. Here, numerous items have literally been collected for years and years on the property. Some have been playfully placed in quirky forms spun into their connectedness behind the artist’s eye. These nine distinctive ‘portholes’ renditions are layers of energies, fairies, and spirits - that align with the past - present, and future as they have been experienced by the artist.
MELDED FOR 2024 PORTLAND WINTER LIGHT FESTIVAL.
Outwardly stimulating collections of illuminated upcycled relics along the short path will keep you delightfully distracted. Each area is teeming with clusters to be interpreted and decoded by the viewer. A few inner thought-provoking questions may await each vicinity and perhaps be answered by the beholder. This experience is also accessible through mindfully placed QR codes that follow a map of each Port Hole.
